Guelph Police are investigating the theft of more than 36 metres of copper from a local construction site.

Police said in a statement that they received a call last Wednesday (May 5) to a the site on Hanlon Creek Boulevard in the cityโ€™s south side. โ€œSometime overnight a gate was removed from its hinges to gain access to the site, then a plywood barrier was smashed open to get into the building,โ€ the police statement said.

A new industrial building is under construction at 350 Hanlon Creek Blvd. Offering potential tenants flexible units ranging from 4,259 sq. ft. to 52,649 sq. ft., broker JLL reports.

โ€œMore than 36 metres of copper wire which had already been installed was cut out and removed, as well as copper wire on a spool,โ€ police said. They did not have an immediate estimate of the copperโ€™s value.
