$480 million Etobicoke hospital project largest of Toronto’s August building permits

Toronto issued $1,257,966,111 in August building permits, compared to $1,184,943,152 in permits issued in July.

The single $480 million permit for Queensway Health Centre in Etobicoke represented, in cost, more than a third of the total permits issued.

Here are the top five permits, listed in order of recorded value.

$480 million – 150 Sherway Dr.

Trillium Health Partners (THP) announced in December, 2021, plans for an extensive expansion program to two of its three major hospitals.  This permit is for work at the Etobicoke hospital, The Queensway Health Centre, described as “Multiple Projects Building Additions/Alterations”.  Stantec has designed the multi-building redevelopment.

$150 million – 5799-5915 Yonge St.

Urban Toronto describes this mixed-use project including commercial office and retail uses, and condos, as a three-tower project with 40, 38, and 34 stories. SKYGRID is listed as the builder and Wallman Architects designed the structures.

saint condos$102.3 million – 89 Church St.

Ottawa-based developer Minto Communities describes the 47-storey The Saint condos at Church and Adelaide as a “slender, elegant tower with magnificent views.”

$96 million –1 Blue Jays Way

This permit is for part of the Rogers Centre stadium interior alterations and building additions/alterations.

This seven-storey, 26-unit development by North Drive Investments Inc. has been designed by Richard Wengle Architect.
