AGF contributes rebar to downtown Montreal student housing project

MONTREAL — AGF Group is supplying rebar for a new 11-storey student housing complex under construction in downtown Montreal.

The project, known as 4POINT3, will include 251 units geared toward post-secondary students and is being built in partnership with Ogesco Construction Inc.

Amenities will include a gym, lounge, study rooms, rooftop terrace, underground parking and access to an electric car-sharing service.

AGF began delivering rebar in April and expects to supply more than 800 metric tonnes by the end of the year. The company has between five and six rebar installers on site, and its work is expected to wrap up in December.

Construction has reached the second-level slab, with the foundations and ground floor already complete.

The building is supported by a single raft foundation — a large reinforced concrete slab — rather than multiple individual footings. AGF is fabricating rebar columns at its Longueuil facility and delivering them on a tightly managed schedule due to space limitations at the site.

The building is located near several major post-secondary institutions and is intended to help address the demand for student housing in the city.
