Applications are open until June 23 for the City of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green and Beautiful project funding to beautify the city and enhance civic pride.
Project ideas should “enhance the function, look and feel of where we live, work and play through public art, beautification, heritage and environmental greening initiatives.”
Funding is available for smaller scale projects (eligible for Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee contributions up to $5,000) or to leverage funds from other levels of government and/or partnership contributions (cash or in kind).
Larger contributions will be considered based on tangible community benefits and availability of funds.
One of last year’s successful applicants was the Thunder Bay Repair Café. Funding enabled the Thunder Bay Repair Café to join a global effort to reduce waste and promote sustainable, community-focused lifestyles. The Repair Café has provided fun, social community events where visitors can learn to fix their broken household items for free—reducing consumption and diverting waste and lowering emissions produced from recycling/waste disposal.
