Building Envelope Council Ottawa Region (BECOR) is hosting an online seminar on Jan. 25 from noon to 1 p.m. titled: The Decline of Modified Bitumen Roofing: How to Extend the Life Cycle of Existing Roofs
“The trend is obvious as flat roofing life cycles become shorter and shorter. This situation results from a combination of improper materials chosen in the design, extreme weather and poor quality workmanship,” the seminar description states.
“This presentation will review specific case studies in the Ottawa region and provide an alternate solution to restore these roofs rather than perform a full replacement; thereby extending roof life and reducing land fill waste.”
Matt McNeely, territory manager at Garland, will be the presenter.
McNeely has worked for Garland for 13 years, managing Eastern Ontario. He typically analyses up to 50 roofs per year, including the project being discussed in this seminar. He has extensive experience in roof design, specialized materials, sustainable construction, and prolonging the life cycles of existing roof systems.
