The city of Brampton held its second public open house focused on the comprehensive review of zoning regulations and urban design guidelines last week, an initiative that is part of the city’s new Official Plan which aims to foster “compact, complete” communities where residents can meet daily needs within a fifteen-minute walk or through micromobility options.

During the open house, participants reviewed proposed updates to the Comprehensive Zoning By-law and Urban Design Guidelines. These changes are designed to clarify development standards, making them more efficient and equitable.

The updates also align with the city’s Housing Accelerator Fund Agreement, which seeks to streamline development approvals, increase housing options, and support economic development while considering land use compatibility.

Written feedback on the second draft of the Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review and Urban Design Guidelines can be submitted until November 1.

For more information, visit the project website, email the project team and/or subscribe for pr oject updates. The Second Draft and associate interactive mapping are available now. Please provide your comments by Friday, Nov. 1.
