CHEO shortlists 3 teams for 1Door4Care project

Three construction teams have been shortlisted to design, build and finance the 1Door4Care project at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in Ottawa.

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and CHEO made the announcement last week.

  • PCL Partnerships, including Parkin Architects Limited, WSP Canada Inc., Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd., Morrison Hershfield Ltd., CSW Landscape Architects Ltd., and Victor Ford & Associates Inc.
  • Pomerleau Inc.,including Jodoin Lamarre Pratte Architects + Neuf Architects, Quinn Design Associates, Quasar Consulting Group Inc. + Pratu, Stephenson Engineering Limited, GHD Limited, Smith and Anderson, and Kiwi Newton Group (Kiwi Newton)

CHEO integrated treatment centre is planned to merge seven existing care sites, spread across Ottawa, into a single, state-of-the-art, purpose-built site on Smyth Road.

The new site will include multi-use clinic space, physiotherapy rehab gym, expanded mental health clinics, indoor and outdoor space, secure space for children who have been abused, modern treatment rooms, advanced technology, a physical link to the main building, family support spaces and a new parking structure.

A request for qualifications (RFQ) was issued in March 2022 with selection criteria including design and construction capability, experience, qualified personnel and financial capacity to undertake a project of this size and scope.

IO and CHEO are expected to issue a request for proposals to the teams this fall. A fairness monitor will oversee the entire procurement process.
