The City of Barrie is creating a new zoning by-law, which is designed to implement the vision and policies of the recently approved Official Plan.
A draft of the by-law is ready for review, and an open house and public meeting scheduled to collect feedback.
- In-person open house – 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall Rotunda (70 Collier St.)
- Virtual (online) open house – Sept. 19, from 3 to 4:15 p.m. Register via the online form.
- Public meeting: Affordability Committee – Oct. 1, starting at 6 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers (70 Collier Street, Barrie)
Urban Design Guidelines were also updated to provide direction for site and building design and set a baseline of expectation for development for the community, stakeholders, developers, and staff.
City-wide community & sustainable design guidelines are intended to “stimulate creative design responses, rather than limit development flexibility or dictate design solutions,” the city said in an overview.
