The City of Oshawa is inviting proposals for the redevelopment of the site at 47 Bond St. W., formerly known as the downtown bus terminal. Located at the southeast corner of Bond St. W. and Centre St. N., the space offers significant potential for a development that will contribute to the continued revitalization of Oshawa’s downtown core.
“The goal is to transform this centrally located space into a vibrant, mixed-use development that complements the surrounding area and enhances the downtown experience for residents and visitors alike,” Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter said in a statement. “This is an exciting opportunity for developers to bring forward innovative ideas that will help shape the future of our city.”
About the site
- 47 Bond St. W. site includes several key areas that are available for redevelopment:
- Terminal: This includes a public hall, washrooms, a former ticketing office, and a second-floor lounge. The terminal area offers versatile space that could be adapted for various uses.
- Bus Platform Area: Located on the ground floor below two levels of parking within the adjacent garage, this area provides significant potential for creating accessible, ground-level commercial or community space.
- Garage: A three-level parking garage with 396 parking spaces is situated just south of the bus platform area. The garage includes ground-floor parking and two additional levels of parking above, which could be incorporated into the development plans.
The city is looking for proposals that will take advantage of the site’s prime location and create a development that enhances the downtown’s vibrancy, accessibility, and economic potential. The redevelopment is expected to complement the broader vision for Oshawa’s downtown revitalization.
Proposals for the redevelopment will be accepted through the city’s official bidding portal at oshawa.bidsandtenders.ca until 2 p.m. on Feb. 27. For more information or to submit a bid, visit Oshawa Bids and Tenders or contact the City of Oshawa’s Economic Development department.
