Conestoga College will be hosting an information session for a pre-apprenticeship program providing higher-paid carpentry trade skills to lower-paid women.
The Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) General Carpenter pre-apprenticeship program is a full-time, tuition-free program designed to prepare candidates to work in construction.
The program includes an eight-week paid work placement.
There will be an information session today at the Waterloo Conestoga campus, with an overview about the program, as well as information about the application and acceptance process.
The program is open to Ontario women who are proficient in English and are over 16 years. Enrolment will start in September, but attendance is mandatory at today’s session to qualify.
