A coroner’s inquest will be held into the deaths of two construction workers who died in hospital of injuries sustained while working at separate construction projects in Windsor in 2016.
Brian Jeffery Izsak, 53, died on July 26, 2016, and Robert Morneau, 44, died on November 3, 2016.
Dr. Rick Mann, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, London Office, announced the inquest on August 23, in a media release.
This one of eight inquests into deaths at construction sites currently scheduled for hearing by the Coroner’s office. An inquest into deaths at work is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
According to the Windsor Star, both men were working on roofs at the time of their injuries.
The inquest is expected to last five days. It will examine the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Approximately 12 witnesses are expected to testify.
The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.
The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Superior Court of Justice in Windsor. Dr. David Eden will preside as inquest coroner and Elizabeth Brown will be counsel to the coroner.
