Initially developed for radio communication service industry, FOCUS has evolved into a fully integrated fleet optimizer and management solution. Initially established in Quebec, the company expanded its services into Ontario in 2015 and into western Canada earlier this year.

Louis Philippe Bourgault, vice president, says the company’s evolution began with clients’ demands for an improved dispatch communication solution with vehicle GPS tracking. This led to the 2008 launch of the FOCUS fleet optimizer commercially.

“In continuing to respond to customer requests, in 2009 we introduced our new fuel management system which is fully integrated with our fleet management solution.”

Bourgault says the company’s decades of experience comes with the recognition of the importance of listening to customer requests and recognizing their needs. As a result of this ongoing effort, he says, FOCUS has continued to solidify its innovative efforts and devote its resources to the development of added value solutions for its diverse client base.

The company’s client base ranges from small- and medium-sized businesses, with fleets that are operating with 25 to 30 units, to larger corporations with a national footprint and public municipalities that require hundreds of units.

FOCUS serves many industry sectors including construction, excavation, transportation, service, delivery, waste and recycling and snow removal. Bourgault says the company uses customer feedback to tailor specific offerings to each of these industries.

“We seek to provide these industries with real-time solutions to their everyday fleet and fuel decisions – thus simplifying and streamlining their daily operations.”

That customer feedback, he says, has resulted in the development of a fully integrated, multi-level software application that is comprised of fleet tracking and asset optimization, fuel inventory monitoring and maintenance management.

“FOCUS is the only web service software in North America that provides the combination of this essential trifecta, allowing our customers to keep their entire business “in check” at all times in one application.”

He says FOCUS acknowledges it is not the largest company in this domain but strives to be the best through cost-effective, time-saving and user-friendly services and highly regarded customer service.

Bourgault says beyond delivery of the product, customer service and long-term relationships is the end goal. The company offers free personalized training, follow-up calls, visits, and tailored presentations as part of its fixed rate, all inclusive package. This has resulted in a customer renewal rate of 98 per cent.

“We offer a guarantee on technological obsolescence and continued web-evolution of our software and hardware development throughout the entire contract and a tailored service that can be modified depending on the industry in question.”

FOCUS recently signed on as a client of DataBid as a concrete opportunity to be aware of all public tenders in the Ontario market allowing the company to competitively offer its service for use. “Being new to this market, we find it imperative to discover ways to be present and informed on the Ontario fleet sector.”

Bourgault says FOCUS is proud to be the only software in North America to have fully integrated fleet tracking, fuel inventory monitoring, maintenance management and driver behavior conditioning all in one single offering. “It is through these inventive efforts that we have solidified a corporate culture that surrounds the ideals of efficiency and productivity. Doing so has enable us to maintain a strong level of customer satisfaction, as we are always on the hunt to develop new technologies, methods and applications that will continue to simplify and enhance the business endeavours of our clientele.”
