Orillia Public Library Sound Masking

Orillia Public library is sourcing a sound masking system to allow for noise cancellation and speech privacy through a computer using a series of speakers in targeted areas. Library staff must be able to turn the system off for Library programming purposes. The sound masking will occur through the use of a loudspeaker system making ambient sound levels more uniform and ensuring noisy distractions are muffled by the sound masking. The Masking system should include sensors to automatically adjust the amount of masking depending on the type and level of noise. The system must minimise noise distraction from conversations both on the same floor and those carrying to the second floor as well as incidental noises such as babies crying, loud communications, hand dryer noise. Sound masking will allow us to respond to repeated customer service requests for noise reduction in the 2nd floor public areas especially those adjacent to the first floor main hallway.
