Central Manitoulin Monument Road Beach Design

Industry Name: Water/Marine Construction

Trade Name: Shore Maintenance

Project Street: Monument Road

Project City: Central Manitoulin

Detail Of Services: The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is requesting quotes for design services to prepare a tender ready design for a shoreline municipal parkette/beach at the Monument Road Beach (see attached map). The quote shall include a cost for two phases: Phase I – Project Initiation & Preliminary Design, and Phase II – Detailed Design Specifications, Issued for Tender drawings & technical package. The proponent shall provide a quote for everything required to produce a tender ready technical package as well as an estimate on costs for construction for budgetary purposes. The primary intent of the design is twofold: To stabilize the shoreline to reduce the impact of the seasonal ice, erosion and water level changes on the beach area; and to improve the functionality and usability of the park by redesigning the parkette and parking area. The design shall employ nature-based design solutions wherever feasible. Each Phase of the project will be subject to Council review and advancement to the next phase will be based on Council approval. A preliminary inspection of the site by Municipal staff identified the following recommendations to guide the design:• The roadside ditch adjacent to the main road be can be in-filled to facilitate development of a small parking area.• The road which circulates through the beach next to the shoreline cab be removed and replaced with a modest parking area off of the main road, and that space formerly occupied by the road be turned into a parkette space for the public, to address the shoreline erosion encroaching where vehicles operate.• Low impact erosion control measures be implemented along the bank/shoreline (using nature-based solutions wherever possible).
