Detail Of Services: This Request for Proposal (the “RFP”) is an invitation by the Regional Municipality of Niagara (“Niagara Region”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Engineering Services to complete the Detailed Design for the Replacement of the existing Gravity Retaining Wall on Regional Road #12 (Mountain Road) in the Town of Grimsby, as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix B) (the “Deliverables”). The existing gravity retaining wall was showing signs of movement and premature deterioration. Ellis Engineering Inc. was tasked with monitoring the gravity retaining wall for a year from September 2018 to September 2019 and provide a report with the results and recommendations and is included within Appendix E. The gravity retaining wall varies in height from 0.5m to 3.0mand extends along the west side of Regional Road 12 (Mountain Street) as the roadway travels south up the escarpment. The Regional Road 12 (Mountain Road) retaining wall is comprised of stone block, earth-retaining gravity wall. The structure consists of three (3) lengths of wall that extends along the west side of the escarpment access roadway and are identified as follows: – North Stone Retaining Wall: o Begins at the base of the escarpment and extends up the roadway approximately120m. The north wall provides lateral soil support for the following residences: 44, 46 and 48 Regional Road 10 (Mountain Street). – Middle Stone Retaining Wall: o Located approximately 50m south of the north wall. The middle wall is approximately 80m in length. – South Stone Retaining Wall: o Located approximately 50m south of the middle wall. The south wall is approximately 120m in length.
