Detail Of Services: The Owner, jointly the Algoma District School Board & the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario are seeking Pre-Qualification submissions from General Contractors for an upcoming JK-12 school project. The objective of this Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ) is to identify and shortlist General Contractors that are capable of delivering the scope, quality and value specifically required for this project. This submission is the first stage in the selection process. The Owner intends to Pre-Qualify five (5) qualified General Contractors. Respondents that qualify as part of the stage one review will be invited to participate in the second stage. Stage Two involves a “Tender Call” for a “Stipulated Sum” for the construction of a new school facility and all of its components. This project involves the construction of a new 64,000 square foot, one-storey JK-12 school in Blind River, Ontario. The new School will be located at 180 Youngfox Rd. This is a green field site (approximately 35 acres) located on South of Highway 17. The Owner has purchased the property and are in the process of Re-Zoning. Access to the site will be provided at Youngfox Road, as well as Birch Street and Togo Street. The existing site is partially cleared and slopes from North to South. The proposed site development involves clearing and levelling large portions of the site, rock blasting and relocation of existing materials is required. The new design is a one-storey school facility centrally located off a main entrance roadway connecting to both Youngfox and Birch Street. Drop off and parking lots are located on the South side of the building with access to main entrances for the School & Child Care. Secondary parking and drop off is located on the east side of the building with a secondary entrance. Bus-only roadway and drop off is located on the west side of the building with a secondary entrance. In order to provide a reasonable response to the Owner and this project, General Contractors, whose offices are not within 100 km of the Algoma District School Board Plant Department will be required to provide a temporary local office for the full duration of the project. Temporary local office is to be an owned or leased space and not an onsite trailer.
