Free presentation: Climate resilient building envelope technology for sustainable and adaptable design

Ottawa Construction News staff writer

How can we develop climate resilient solutions for sustainable and adaptable building design?

Charlie van Waarden will offer some answers on Oct. 26 at a Construction Specifications Canada – Ottawa Chapter presentation.

Waarden, leading the design team at Feris Build Tech for three years, has been developing ways to use BIM software to create high-efficiency building envelopes using prefabricated panels.

His presentation will explore “current economic and social issues facing the construction industry, and the need for climate resilient solutions for design and build professionals and consumers alike,” the event notice says.

“Learn about Harmonic – a high-performance, panelized modular building envelope system that is sustainable, lightweight, durable, quick to install, and precision-manufactured to leave less waste.”

“Charlie’s interest in prefabricated buildings comes from his experience with prefabricated timber-frame construction and his pursuit for more sustainable building solutions.”

There is no charge to attend the presentation at the Overbrook Community Centre, 33 Quill Street (Workshop Room), from noon to 1:00 p.m., which includes a light lunch.
