The initiative will provide up to $50 million over two years, with more than $15.6 million allocated specifically for southern Ontario. The funding will support projects that improve manufacturing and construction technologies, promote new materials and methods for homebuilding, and advance off-site manufacturing practices to speed up the homebuilding process.

“We are taking action so that everyone has a place to call home. The Regional Homebuilding Innovation Initiative is helping businesses and organizations across Canada, including right here in Ontario, access the support they need to advance new homebuilding methods and boost productivity while also helping to address housing shortages across Canada,” said Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

“By investing in innovation, we are taking action to ensure that everyone has a place to call home,” Tassi said. “This initiative will help businesses across the country, including in Ontario, access the resources they need to advance new construction methods and tackle housing shortages.”

The program also aims to create new jobs and stimulate economic growth. Small- and medium-sized businesses, along with organizations supporting them, are encouraged to apply for funding to develop projects that will transform the homebuilding industry.

Small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as organizations that support them, are encouraged to apply for funding to help advance projects that will “shape the future of homebuilding” in Canada.
