Sustainable Buildings Canada’s Green Building Festival has set the lineup of speakers for its 2019 iteration in October. The event, to be held at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre, will focus on techniques and technologies that will help builders consider new ways to reach net-zero status for their upcoming builds.

Participants can increase their capacity to design, construct, and manage sustainable buildings through programs about complex and moveable building envelopes, the contrast between active and passive house designs, how 3D printed concrete forms can minimize waste, and more. Programming will discuss both simple and complex strategies to increase a building’s efficiency.

Featured presenters at the event include Dietmar Eberile of Baumschlager Eberle Architects, an award-winning architect and university instructor, and Teresa Coady, author of the upcoming book Rebuilding the Planet: The 12 Principles of Conscious Construction. Adam Cohen will present on making passive houses cost-effective enough for widespread use.

Other speakers will cover topics like reducing carbon in concrete production, building envelopes that use Phase Change materials to collect and release thermal energy, and tech use in sustainable building.

Sustainable Buildings Canada is a not-for-profit NGO. It was set up in 2002 in partnership with Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA). It works with government agencies and utilities to advance the state of the built environment, by improving environmental and energy performance.

This year’s Green Building Festival is open for registration.
