General Motors is starting work on its autonomous vehicle test track in Oshawa.

The 55-acre outdoor track, called the Canadian Technical Centre (CTC) McLaughlin Advanced Technology Track, is part of the $170 million investment.

The CTC McLaughlin Advanced Technology Track will support advanced software and engineering work being conducted at GMโ€™s Canadian Technical Centre campuses in Oshawa and Markham.

“The Canadian Technical Centre McLaughlin Advanced Technology Track will demonstrate to the world that Oshawa continues to be an innovative city and a proven leader in transformation, technological advancements and partnerships in the transportation and automobile industry,” Mayor Dan Carter stated.

Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2020.
