Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa is doubling its build numbers in 2019 to provide more affordable homeownership opportunities to working families in Ottawa. “We are currently developing our largest build to date – Leacross Landing in Orleans – consisting of 16 townhomes, of which seven homes are now occupied by Habitat families, with nine currently under construction,” the organization says in a statement.
The Greater Ottawa Home Builders Association Renovators Council is challenging its members to “Adopt-a-Room” for Habitat Greater Ottawa at our Leacross Landing build, offering the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the life of a local family.
GOHBA members are being challenged to provide skilled labour to finish a room such as for drywall, tiling, painting, trim, etc. “Your expertise is needed and donated materials are also welcome,” the statement says.
Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa says it is celebrating 25 years of building strength, stability and self-reliance for local families.
To date, Habitat Greater Ottawa has served 76 families thanks to the ongoing support of sponsors, donors and volunteers, including local contractors and renovators.
