Angela Clayton has been appointed interim acting president and CEO of Infrastructure Ontario (IO) while CEO Michael Lindsay assumes the role of interim president and CEO of Metrolinx.
Clayton, who had previously announced plans to depart IO earlier this year, has agreed to extend her tenure in this interim role. She is widely respected both within IO and across the infrastructure sector. As president of Project Delivery at IO, Clayton has led numerous initiatives that have modernized the province’s approach to delivering complex, high-impact infrastructure projects.
“Angela has played a critical role in shaping IO’s Project Delivery team, ensuring the successful deployment of innovative models for Ontario’s most significant infrastructure initiatives,” said the Board of Directors. “Her leadership has been instrumental in delivering transformative projects essential to the province’s growth.”
The board also expressed its deep gratitude to both Clayton and Lindsay for agreeing to take on these important roles.
“The work being done at IO and Metrolinx is key to supporting Ontario’s continued growth and prosperity. We are grateful for Angela and Michael’s ongoing commitment to public service during this important time,” the statement added.
The search for a permanent successor to Clayton is underway.
Infrastructure Ontario is responsible for managing the province’s major public infrastructure projects, including public-private partnership (P3) projects, real estate management, and project financing. The organization’s efforts are central to the government’s infrastructure plan, one of the most ambitious in Ontario’s history.
Meanwhile, Lindsay will lead Metrolinx through significant expansion as interim president and CEO.
