Ontario is committing $2.5 million to support early planning for a new Campbellford Memorial Hospital in the municipality of Trent Hills to provide care across Northumberland, Peterborough and Hastings counties in central Ontario.
The Progressive Conservative government says the investment will support early planning for the redevelopment of Campbellford Memorial Hospital on a new site to create a larger, state-of-the-art facility with expanded programs and services.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital, a 38-bed facility, marked its 70th anniversary less than two years ago with the unveiling of a rendering for a development on 48 acres of land donated by local farmer Jim Curle. The development would feature a 50-bed hospital, a 128-bed long-term care home, a new medical office for the Community Health Program, and room for other medical services.
The plan also calls for fifty affordable barrier-free housing units.
NorthumberlandโPeterborough South MPP David Piccini said there has been strong support for the project. โItโs a culmination of a community effort.โ
Once opened, the new hospital will include:
- Expanded access to core programs and services, including a modernized emergency department and new in-patient medical wing
- Increased in-patient capacity to meet the communityโs future needs and allow more people to connect to care sooner
- Enhanced infection prevention and control measures to ensure the health and safety of all patients
- A new health care campus with a range of community support services to match the needs of Northumberlandโs growing and aging population.
