The Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) has named Michael McSweeney, former president and CEO of the Cement Association of Canada (CAC), as the organization’s new CEO.
ORBA recently announced the appointment and the departure of Bryan Hocking, who was CEO for the past four years.

“On behalf of the ORBA Board, we are pleased to have Michael as our new CEO at this pivotal moment in our sector’s history,” ORBA chair Kevin Machej said in a statement. “Ontario road builders find themselves at a crucial moment in a time when all three levels of government are committed to the largest infrastructure investment and spend that our province has ever seen.”
McSweeney joined the CAC in 2007 and served as president and CEO for 12 years, working closely with civil and environmental groups in communities across Canada. He retired in April 2022.
“I am excited to work with ORBA’s members, the Ontario Asphalt Paving Council, our allies, and all levels of governments to help deepen the understanding of how crucial it is for Ontario’s government to fund the maintenance and expansion of Ontario’s road and transportation network,” McSweeney said.
