The Simcoe County Home Builders’ Association (SCHBA) is taking a significant step towards improving the lives of at-risk youth by dedicating their time and expertise to renovate Barrie’s Youth Haven, the region’s only shelter focused on supporting homeless and at-risk youth. This contribution is valued at over $1 million and is set to transform the facility into a modern, welcoming space.

Construction is already underway, with the official demolition of the existing building kicking off on Oct. 30, marking the start of a new chapter for Youth Haven.

The Seeley Group assisted with the demolition and companies volunteering to work on the rebuild include Alair Homes Ontario, Pratt Homes, Sunbelt Rentals, Lakeside Tree Experts and Northern Plumbing Systems.

Donations of materials and services—everything from lumber and insulation to landscaping supplies – are still needed. Click the link to get involved: https://newhavenbarrie.ca.

“Youth Haven’s Demo Day symbolizes a fresh start for countless young lives,” said Lucy Gowers, executive director at Youth Haven. “This new facility will provide a safe space, hope, and brighter futures for youth in need.”

The new shelter aims to offer not just physical shelter, but essential services such as counseling, education, employment support, and housing assistance.

“We’re providing more than just a roof over their heads; we’re offering hope and a pathway to a better future,” Gowers added.

With over 30 years of dedicated service, Youth Haven is poised to expand its reach and resources, thanks to this collaborative effort and the incredible support from the community.
