The Canadian Farm Builders Association (CFBA) held their 2022 Builder Awards competition and ceremony on April 28 at The Arden Park Hotel in Stratford.
Entries were received in 10 categories and the submissions were assessed by attendees at the CFBA’s Annual Conference held on the same day. Winners were selected via a people’s choice voting format. The Project of the Year Award was selected as the best entry across all the categories and awarded as the best project entered for 2022.
The winning builder in each category received a plaque for their office as well as a plaque for their client—the owner of the building.
HFH Inc. received the project of the year award, along with first place in the Other Livestock category.
The barn awarded project of the year was designed by HFH Inc. and GB Architect Inc. and the project engineer was Waddell Engineering Ltd.
Features of the 19-stall, 36,000-sq.-ft. equestrian facility include:
- More than 250’ (2,800 sq. ft.) of wrap-around timber porches
- 19 custom designed stalls and a spacious front door office
- two large tackrooms for two equine businesses (trail riding and horse board)
- two large viewing lounges:
- sports lounge with bar, pool Table, TV and large windows
- viewing room with fireplace
- two groom stalls plus two wash stalls all with custom shelving/racks
- two large hay storage bays plus a large shavings room
- dedicated blanket room with easy access laundry room
- 90-ft. by 220-ft. riding arena with synthetic fiber no dust, sand floor footing
