The City of Toronto issued building permits valued at $577,236,652 in September, a decline of more than 50 per cent from the $1,247,703,564 of permits issued in August.
These numbers are reflected in a decrease in the scale of higher-value permits recorded.
Nevertheless, several significant projects were reported in September, including:
$100 million – 844 Don Mills Rd.
This permit is for one of 14 structures at Crosstown Community, a 60-acre master planned and transit oriented development. Urban Toronto reports the project at the northwest corner of Eglinton and Don Mills Road includes commercial space, office buildings and residential structures including towers and low-rise townhouses. There are also pedestrian linkages, bike paths, as well as complete streets, parks and open spaces.
Developers include Aspen Ridge Homes, Lifetime Developments, Context Development and Diamond Corp.
Architects are Sweeny &Co Architects Inc., TACT Architecture, Giannone Petricone Associates, Hariri Pontarini Architects, and MacLennan Jaukalns Miller Architects
$90 million – 32 Eastern Ave.
Teeple Architects says on its website: “This mid-rise condominium is knit into the rich and diverse Corktown community in which it is located. While connecting to the existing built form and cultural context immediately surrounding the site with brick-clad Townhomes at grade, the building terraces upwards as it approaches Eastern Avenue.
$20 million – 45 Overlea Blvd.
This permit is for interior alterations and building additions/alterations at the East York Medical Health Centre.
$15 million – 2 Wickman Rd.
The city says the permit is for a new building for a car dealership.
$13 million – 2672 Bloor St. W.
The permit says this is for additions and alterations to the TTC Old Mill transit station, with a subway and bus terminal.
