Toronto issues $776.6 million in December building permits

The City of Toronto issued $776.6 million in new building permits in December, 2022, a decline from the almost $2.2 billion issued in November.

Here is an outline of the five largest projects by permit value.

$150 million – 10 Wellesley St. W.

IBI Group designed this 55-storey condominium project for CentreCourt.  It took several years from concept to construction, as the developers needed to get Zoning By-law Amendment approvals form the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT).

$70 million – 160 Front St. W.

The permit is for office interior alterations and building additions/alterations for this 46-storey commercial development. Urban Toronto says the building has 134,766 sq. m. of commercial gross floor area, including at-grade retail space along Simcoe St.  PCL Construction says work on the structure is scheduled to be completed by September.

$50 million – 75 Broadway Ave.

This 38-storey infill rental tower was designed by WZMH Architects for Tiimbercreek Communities, and will have 316 apartments.

$50 million – 10 Wilby Cr.

Deltera and Lomax Management are building this 22-storey condo/mixed use building, with 233 units. Designers are Architecture Unfolded and HCA Architecture.

65 Dundas St. E.

$48 million – 65 Dundas St. E.

The City of Toronto has purchased the former Bond Place Hotel and is converting the structure to an apartment building with 280 affordable rental housing units. The structure is currently being used as a shelter.
