With the major Erskine Street reconstruction project complete, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says the city has completed 48-kilometres of roadwork this year โ and the number is growing.
โFixing and maintaining Windsorโs roads is a โno brainer,โ as they remain vital components for the continued growth of our city,โ said Mayor Drew Dilkens. โAs new residents make Windsor their home, and with the completion of many exciting infrastructure projects, weโll need to continue providing safe roads for commuting to and from work.โ
Work to the west side of Erskine was done in the summer of 2021 and earlier this month the final removal and replacement of the asphalt pavement on the east side was completed.
Erskine Street is a small but densely populated area of the city, home to multiple multi-residential buildings.
To date, 48 lane-kilometres of roadway have been improved in 2022, which is basically the equivalent of paving from Windsor to Leamington. The cityย maintains approximately 1,076 kilometres of roads overall.
โErskine Street is an important neighbourhood in Ward 5 that should not be forgotten. Iโve spoken with multiple residents in the area who urgently needed this section repaved to provide a safer entrance to their homes. Iโm pleased to see this project completed and grateful to have been able to get it done and deliver results for my community,โ said Councillor Ed Sleiman.
