As the holiday season approaches, the Barrie Construction Association (BCA) has launched its annual fundraising campaign for the local food bank.
“While many of us our thinking about how we are going to celebrate, people in our community are not only thinking about that but also about how they are going to afford both daily living expenses and the extra spending that comes with Christmas time. Many will turn to Food Banks to help see them through,” said Executive Director Alison Smith.
“Food Banks provide temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self sufficiency.”
With the cost of living and inflation at record levels, food banks in Barrie and across Simcoe County are experiencing large increases in demand.
The BCA is a community supporter and will continue to show its’ support this year with the food bank challenge. For every dollar that is donated by members, the BCA will match funds – up to a total of $2,000.
Members can donate directly to any food bank of their choice, and let the BCA know the amount. At the end of the challenge donations will be tallied and matched.
All company donations will be shared on BCA social media accounts.
More than $55,800 has already been donated and donors include:
