The Municipality of Meaford’s water tower will be lit Red, Blue, and Green for Safety and Health Week until May 11.

Lighting the water tower is one way municipalities and organizations are raising awareness about the importance of safety measures in the workplace and encouraging a culture of well-being within the community.

This week is a great time for employers, workers, partners, and everyone in the community to think about how to prevent injuries and sickness and to keep people safe in the workplace, at home, and in the community.

Sara Abedeen has set a new benchmark for health and safety standards since joining Baycrest‘s team in 2022.

A University of Toronto alumni with an Honours Bachelor of Science, Abedeen came to Baycrest with a CSA certification in infection control, and a background as a project technologist in hazardous materials.

Thanks to her tremendous experience, she was equipped with invaluable insights and experiences that she brings to the construction industry.

Her colleagues say Sara “has cultivated an unwavering environmental health & safety culture at Baycrest and her approach is one of unyielding resolve to mitigate risks, significantly reducing workplace incidents while promoting resilient health and safety practices.”

Her commitment to health and safety has been instrumental in maintaining Baycrest’s COR Certification, and in the company’s attainment of the IHSA Recognition of Performance Achievement Milestone award, recognizing 250,000 hours of injury-free work.

Also, her proactive participation in the WSIB Excellence program further emphasizes her unwavering dedication to ensuring the utmost safety and well-being of all staff and workers.

Sara is a leader who not only enforces safety protocols, but instills a deep-rooted culture of safety awareness and preventive action.

With her drive, vision and unwavering adherence to excellence in health and safety made Aberdeen an exceptional choice for the Ontario Construction News Health and Safety Leader honour.

Congratulations Sara!
