As Christmas approaches, this is a good time to recognize some of the many architctural engineering and construction businesses which have gone out of their way to contribute to the community and to support those in need.
The images here are just a small sample of the charitable and community spirit reflected in the AEC community.
Ontario Construction News extends its thanks and Season’s Greetings as we prepare to take a couple of days off.
We will be around and each business day in the holiday season, returning on Friday Dec. 27, Monday Dec. 30 and New Years Eve, and then again from Thursday, Jan. 2.
The Barrie Construction Association’s Women in Construction group presented over $2,000 in gift cards and cash along with toys and personal products they collected for the Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie.
Quartek Group raised $10,000 for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
It’s an annual event for Soo Mill BuildALL in Sault Ste. Marie collecting donations and shopping for Christmas Cheer – Sault Ste. Marie Depot.
Palmer Construction Group Inc. held their annual joint holiday party with Pioneer Construction Inc. and Fisher Wavy Inc. for employees across the Sault Ste Marie & Algoma areas. The companies used the Christmas Party as a fundraiser for Pauline’s Place – a local charity supporting disadvantaged and displaced youth, women and families. Donations were matched by the companies, bringing the total to $6,000. The same team held its annual potluck lunch and raised another $1,000 for The Period Purse Sault Ste. Marie organization and the companies matched contributions.
Kawartha Lakes Construction set up a donation tree for Peterborough Humane Society, and received donations from the community including from ABR Contracting.
Markland Wood Homeowners Association organized a Christmas Caravan with volunteers collecting donations for families in need.
Minto Communities GTA, in partnership with Tripple Waste Management, filled a 40 Yard Triple Waste bin with donated toys in support of the CTV Toy Mountain campaign with 1,277 toys.
Ridgeview Homes Inc. organized donations from their trades, suppliers and customers for Kitchener’s Toy Mountain drive.
The Lisburn Chamber of Commerce collected donations at its 8th annual Christmas Charity lunch.
Niagara Construction Association collected $5,842 in monetary and food donations today making our 14 year total a whopping $18,842 for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
