The construction industry added 26,000 workers across Canada in November after three months of smaller jumps.

That 1.9 per cent increase shines in light of a 0.3 per cent increase for the overall Canadian economy, according to the latest Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada.

Ontario accounted for the majority of the construction gains, with job sites in the province increasing by 5.5 per cent, about 28,000 workers.

Staff increases on- and off-site also boosted construction’s overall labour force to above 1.4 million for the first time since spring 2020, but employment stats are about 5.5 per cent below pre-pandemic highs.
