Detail Of Services: The Town of Bracebridge (Town) is planning for the replacement of the Bracebridge Memorial Arena and Community Hall and the Bracebridge Public Library with a new combined Multi-Use Community Centre, which houses a single pad arena, community hall, public library, multi-use field house, concession/café, outdoor playground, trails and open spaces. At the same time, to meet future community needs a second ice pad needs to be considered as part of this Multi-Use Community Centre.
The Multi-Use Community Centre is expected to have a made in Muskoka look and feel. Other objectives are to have a functionally linked modern multi-use community centre that reflects the nature of Bracebridge to meet the present and future needs of residents and visitors to Bracebridge in accordance with approved project schedule and approved project budget, in a transparent process, using quality design and construction methods, to create a community hub with safe and accessible spaces which support community engagement, learning, culture, sport, tourism, health and wellness and personal growth for all residents and visitors to Bracebridge.
While it is uncertain when the Town of Bracebridge may receive funding from upper levels of government the Town is immediately proceeding with the Concept and Schematic Design Phases immediately for:
a) Option A – Single Development which includes includes a single pad arena, community hall, public library, multi-use field house, lobby, playground, trail, outdoor play space (on area retained for future second arena) and site work, and includes the repurposed Sportsplex Auditorium. In addition, to meet future community needs a future second ice arena needs to be considered as part of the Multi-Use Community Centre; or
b) Option B – Partial Development which includes a single pad arena, community hall, lobby, playground, trail, outdoor play space and site work, and includes the repurposed Sportsplex Auditorium.
If Option A is selected: The work shall proceed as the design and construction of the entire Multi Use Community Centre, which includes a single pad arena, community hall, public library, multi-use field house, lobby, playground, trail, outdoor play space (on area retained for future second arena) and site work, and includes the repurposed Sportsplex Auditorium and arena demolition. The Class “D” budget estimate for design and construction is $48,842,240, plus applicable taxes and the cost to decommission the Bracebridge Memorial Arena. Note: This is the total budget including consulting, permits, and other soft costs.
If Option B is selected: The work shall proceed as the design and construction of Option 5 (single phase) in the Capital Financing Plan which includes a single pad arena, community hall, lobby, playground, trail, outdoor play space (on area retained for future second arena) and site work, and includes the repurposed Sportsplex Auditorium and arena demolition. The Class “D” budget estimate is $29,883,000, plus applicable taxes, plus the cost to decommission the Bracebridge Memorial Arena. Note: This is the total budget including consulting, permits, and other soft costs.
