Detail Of Services: The University of Ottawa intends to reroute Boiler #3 such that the existing stack will no longer be required for operation of Boiler #3 within the Power Plant of the University located at 720 King Edward Avenue in Ottawa, ON. Based on a previous designated substance report, asbestos-containing material has been identified lining the interior of the stack. This refractory cement was confirmed to contain 3% chrysotile asbestos. The intent of the project is to remove all asbestos-containing refractory cement material from the Boiler #3 Stack and completing a detailed cleaning of the stack and associated duct-work following these removals under Type-3 asbestos precautions. Due to the size/construction of the Boiler #3 stack, the abatement contractor must ensure that all personnel have been trained in accordance with the minimum applicable Industrial Rope Access Trades Association (IRATA) training. The project area (within Boiler #3 stack and within duct) has previously been documented by the University of Ottawa as a confined space and will require necessary precautions during work (confined space training, confined space air monitoring, confined space and high angle rescue equipment, etc.).
