The Ontario government is contributing more than $22,000 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) for renovations to the Community Support Centre-Northwest in Dryden.

“Our government is proud to help upgrade the Community Support Centre-Northwest, a hub providing crucial community social services,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern development.

“These improvements will reduce maintenance and energy costs—money that can be reinvested into programming to better serve clients.”

The investment will fund new insulation, roof shingles, siding, and windows to improve the building’s overall energy efficiency so that the centre can continue to deliver important social services to Dryden’s vulnerable populations.

“This funding will assist us in extending the useful life of our aging building by returning it to a state of good repair,” said Debbie Dokuchie, executive director, community support centre-Northwest. “Addressing the deficiencies will allow us to continue to provide quality programs and services within a safe and healthy environment.”

The NOHFC promotes economic prosperity across Northern Ontario by providing financial assistance to projects—big and small, rural and urban—that stimulate recovery, growth, job creation and skills development. Since June 2018, the NOHFC has invested more than $432 million in 4,025 projects in Northern Ontario, leveraging more than $1.4 billion in investment and creating or sustaining over 6,200 jobs.
