The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (WRSBC), is hosting SDG Talks, a monthly speaker series that explores the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) and how communities create “a more sustainable planet”.
The theme of the series is “business as a force for good” and June 20’s SDG Talk will explore sustainable cities and communities and “what we can do to build more sustainable cities and communities.” Speakers will include:
- Anna Marie Cipriani, corporate sustainability officer, City of Kitchener
- Ena Ristic, senior sustainability officer, City of Waterloo
- Julianna Van Adrichem, environmental marketing strategist, Promosaurus
“Sustainable communities are not only green – they are also inclusive, safe, and affordable. This conversation will cover what our cities are doing right and where they can improve to reach the goal of creating sustainable cities built for everyone,” the event description states.
The event will take place from June 20 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the new SDG Idea Factory, 2 King St. W.
“Join us for an evening of engaging conversation to raise awareness and accountability for the sustainable development goals, networking, and light refreshments,” organizers said. To register visit SDGSpeakerSeries.eventbrite.ca.
Over the next year, the City of Kitchener and community partners will invite speakers to present topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of a series of seventeen sessions. Topics for future sessions will be announced closer to the session dates.
