Mississauga holding virtual sessions on major development projects

The City of Mississauga is kicking off 2022 with virtual community engagement on some key projects.

The Have your say Mississauga! Series will collect ideas and opinions on projects that are transforming the city, including:

Downtown Fairview, Cooksville and Hospital Policy Review – Wed,.,Feb. 16

This policy review examines how to manage the anticipated growth in Downtown Fairview, Cooksville and Hospital communities along the Hurontario Street corridor.  It will explore official plan policies that support the creation of 15 minute communities.

mississauga1 Port Street East Proposed Marina – Feb. 17 to March 17

An Environmental Assessment has been launched under the Environmental Assessment Act for the 1 Port Street East Proposed Marina Project, to study proposed lakefill alternatives for additional waterfront parkland and marina for this site

A virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) on Feb. 17 will launch the project’s EA online on the project website. A recorded presentation and survey will be available until March 17.

Inclusionary Zoning (IZ) – Feb. 24

Inclusionary Zoning is being considered to help bring more affordable housing units to the city. A public meeting will look at results of municipal assessments conducted to date and preliminary policy directions.

Official Plan Review – March 3

The city is reviewing the existing Official Plan and a drop in open house will provide an opportunity for participants to comment on draft policies, which include growth management, environment and climate change. Draft policies will be posted on Feb. 17 for review and comment prior to the March 3 open house.

Dundas Corridor Policy Implementation – March 21

The Dundas Street Corridor is a vital part of the transportation network and over the next 35 to 40 years, it is estimated that the number of people using Dundas Street will grow. 

The first half of the public meeting will be an update on the general implementation of the masterplan for the entire corridor, followed by a focus on lands east of Hurontario, specifically on Employment Area policies and flood mitigation studies and resulting policy updates.
