The Ontario Non Profit Housing Association (ONPHA) is preparing for its annual conference and trade show – which the association says is one of North America’s largest housing conferences.
The 2019 conference from Nov. 1 to 3 is expected to attract more than 1,100 delegates, including non-profit housing staff, board members and tenants from across Ontario, as well as service managers and government officials. Pre-conference events at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto start on Oct. 31.
Enbridge Gas Inc. is one of the event’s major Gold sponsors.
Organizers say there will be:
- More than 60 professional development sessions;
- A trade show, which hosts more than 70 exhibitors;
- The annual Gala evening, which combines celebration, a meal, live entertainment and recognition of ONHPA award winners.
The association says the conference’s theme: “Owning our future” has never been more timely.
“It’s time for us to redefine what we want our future to look like. The housing sector is modernizing; funding models are changing, and new technologies are helping us to manage properties and build more energy-efficient homes. As housing professionals, we are the experts and we must use our experience and knowledge to help grow our sector; to seek out new funding sources and partnerships to build healthy communities we can all be proud of.”
“This year’s program will offer a glimpse into the future of housing. With groundbreaking topics such as partnership development, impact investing and new supportive housing models, and evergreen sessions such as fire safety, unit condition management and governance, there is truly something for everyone.”
