ORBA presents road building industry awards at virtual summit

Everett McIntyre of Aecon Group has attended more than 50 Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) conventions and this year he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at a virtual celebration.

“We are honoured to have been able to virtually present his award and Hall of Fame jacket with the help of his granddaughter Ashley,” the ORBA wrote on Twitter following the ceremony.

The ORBA 2021 Virtual Summit honoured excellence, service and commitment to the association and the road building industry in Ontario.

This year’s theme was “Staying Head of the Curve.”

“We had no idea then that our convention’s tagline would become a household phrase related to the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic,” said ORBA CEO Bryan Hocking. “Normally we would be celebrating the accomplishments and milestones of our members in person at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto.  However, via the virtual summit, with 572 attendees sitting in front of their screens, we were able to still recognize these individuals and companies hard work and dedication to excellence.”

Contributions had a positive impact on not only the road building industry, but also within the communities in which they serve, especially in this unprecedented year.

Awards were presented in the following categories:
