St. Catharines is partnering with home design, construction, retail and manufacturing businesses to launch the Design District, a one-stop destination for design, building and renovation needs in the city.

Located next to the QEW, the site includes a cluster of businesses spanning the area between Welland Avenue, Cushman Road, Dieppe Road and Eastchester Avenue, an area of the city known for its home and design-related businesses.

From lighting to flooring, plumbing to heating and cooling, furnishings to appliances, the district features a wide-ranging collection of local businesses with showrooms and galleries offering products, services and expertise.

“This part of our city has had a long-standing reputation for producing award-winning design and home building and improvement businesses,” said Director of Economic Development and Government Relations Brian York. “By creating the Design District, we are recognizing its significance to our local economy while highlighting it as a destination to attract visitors seeking high quality artisans and products sold by local businesses.”

Street signs identify the district and a new website was created to drive traffic to businesses in the area and help promote the many services and products offered online and through social media.

“Building or renovating your home can often be a difficult task when trying to find the right contractor or designer,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik. “The Design District is aimed at the next generation of consumers who research online before making their purchases while providing a digital platform for local businesses to promote the incredible talent and expertise they have to offer.”

Any businesses wishing to be listed on the website can make a request via the contact form on the website.
