Four new bridges will soon connect downtown Toronto to the future Villiers Island, the new island that will be created by extending the Don River through the Port Lands.
The first of these bridges are being assembled by Cherubini Metal Works in Halifax and is scheduled to leave Dartmouth this fall and travel to Toronto via the St. Lawrence Seaway.
The bridge’s departure and arrival dates will depend on several factors, most notably, the weather and the workers will likely only have 24 hours’ notice that the bridge is leaving Dartmouth or arriving in Toronto.
When the bridge’s departure date is confirmed, a Facebook Live event will be scheduled where viewers can watch as the Cherubini Metal Works crew wishes the bridge “bon voyage”.
