The City of Belleville has released the Draft Corridor Plan for Bell Boulevard and a section of North Front Street, offering the public a first look at proposed land use changes and design direction for this key urban area.
The draft document, now available for public review, outlines the vision, land use framework, and urban design strategy for the corridor. It reflects community input, technical analysis, and contributions from consulting firms Fotenn Planning & Design and TYLin, while aligning with updated provincial planning policies.
The study area includes Bell Boulevard and the portion of North Front Street between Bell Boulevard and the rail line. The plan aims to guide the corridorโs transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use area and provide a roadmap for development that supports Bellevilleโs Official Plan objectives.
A public meeting was held on June 25 to present the draft plan and gather feedback from residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
The Corridor Study focuses on:
- Planning and urban design to support mixed-use development
- Engineering due diligence, including water, sewer, and stormwater servicing
- Ecological assessments to ensure responsible, sustainable growth
- Public and stakeholder engagement to inform decision-making
- Policy alignment with municipal and provincial planning priorities
