The City of Brampton has appointed Christopher Ethier as the Director of Municipal Transition and Integration to prepare for its independence from Peel Region.
Ethier, who joined the City of Brampton in 2022, has worked to enhance intergovernmental engagement and partnerships with all levels of government on City of Brampton strategic priorities. He brings nearly 20 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, policy development, and issues management at the federal and municipal level.
In his new role, Ethier will oversee engagement between the provincial transition board and the city, and lead the city’s internal core team that will bring forward proposals and recommendations to Council and its corporate leadership team.
Ethier will be joined by Vincent Rodo, Director, Organizational Performance and
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, who will also play a key role in the transition. Rodo joined the City of Brampton in 2017 as Director of Transit Operations and Maintenance, and has more than 35 years of experience in the transit industry.
The dissolution process, with the support of the transition board working collaboratively with Brampton officials, will help ensure a fair outcome for the three municipalities that prioritizes the preservation of frontline services and workers, respect for taxpayers and government efficiency.
“We are at a pivotal moment in Brampton’s history, and these two appointments will support our transition to a successful, sustainable single-tier municipality,” Brampton’s chief administrative officer Marlon Kallideen said in a statement.
“Vincent and Christopher bring a wealth of knowledge that will guide our preparations for the dissolution of the Region of Peel, and I am confident they are best suited to lead Brampton through this transition.”
