CCA urges post-election support from federal government

The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is urging the next federal government to maintain momentum on infrastructure investment following this monthโ€™s election campaign.

โ€œWe appreciate the commitments federal parties, candidates and leaders have made on infrastructure during this election,โ€ CCA president Rodrigue Gilbert said in a statement. โ€œNow, itโ€™s time to follow through.โ€

Construction isnโ€™t just about building, he said, โ€œitโ€™s about good jobs for hardworking Canadians, safe, reliable infrastructure for communities across the country, and a robust, resilient economy.โ€

โ€œThe industry was facing challenges before the current crisis and will continue to face these same hurdles if systemic inefficiencies and chronic underinvestment are not addressed,โ€ Gilbert said. โ€œShort-term strategies arenโ€™t good enough โ€” to unlock the full potential of construction in driving Canada forward, we need long-term solutions.โ€

The association is hoping to work with the next federal government to advance policies and investments needed for critical infrastructure across the country โ€” from trade and transport to housing.
