Arnprior Regional Health Chief Executive Officer Eric Hanna says a number of exploratory holes are being drilled at the site to verify the existence or absence of an underground creek, which would require structural shoring should it be confirmed.
The Ontario government has announced that through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) it is investing more than $475,000 into Arnprior Regional Health’s facilities.
Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) is using the funding to purchase and install a new ducted air conditioning system in the hospital’s patient care areas.
“The HIRF investment allows us to make a significant upgrade to the patient and family experience by creating a safer and more comfortable environment,” explained Eric Hanna, President and CEO, ARH.
“We currently have portable window air conditioning units in our patient rooms, but it is not an ideal system for our patients due to the excessive noise, lack of uniform cooling in rooms and inadequate air filtration. The new system will modernize and upgrade our facility for our patients.”
Work started in late December and will be completed in phases over approximately eight months.
The new Grove Nursing Home will open in fall 2021 and increase capacity by 60 per cent to 96 residents. The design is modern, people-first, departing from the institutional style of nursing homes. The new space has been laid out into three distinct neighbourhoods — each will be home to 32 residents and include a dedicated living room, dining room, activities room, bedrooms and access to a secure courtyard with walking paths, seating, and gardens.
