The Built-up Area is about 200 acres in area and is divided into a Controlled Area, in which most radiological work takes place, and the Supervised Area, where some radiological and most non-radiological work takes place. The Outer Area is primarily used for environmental remediation and research. There are some Controlled Area islands in the Supervised Area and in the Outer Area.
