On December 22, 2021, Council awarded a tender to a general contractor for the construction of the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre, which includes the demolition of the Bracebridge Memorial Arena. As part of the decommissioning (demolition) of the Arena, Council directed staff to include the demolition of 36 Ann Street; however, prior to confirming the demolition of 36 Ann Street, the Town is exploring the feasibility of offering the structures only at 36 Ann Street through an RFP process for possible relocation (or for salvage of materials) to support housing. Proposals are being accepted for the house (and Proponents may include the garage) to be moved offsite and/or restored to another property. The house (and garage) will be offered “for sale” by sealed bid, with preference given to proposals to move and restore the house to support affordable housing initiatives.
