Industry Name: Leisure/Parks/Recreation

Trade Name: Parks/Playgrounds

Project Street: 1350 King Rd

Project City: Thunder Bay

Detail Of Services: The Visitor Centre at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP) is a modern building with an area of approximately 15,800 square feet. The existing HVAC system at the Visitor Centre was installed over 25 years ago and many components have reached the end of their useful life, require replacement, and do not meet current energy efficiency standards. An engineering study (relevant sections of which are attached in appendix A) was completed in March 2022 and the scope of the study was to assess the HVAC systems for 16 buildings throughout FWHP and provide recommendations to repair, replace, or upgrade the components. The study concludes that most of the buildings throughout the historic site require significant upgrades to their respective HVAC systems, with most components identified as being in “critical” or “poor” condition.

LSRCA Scanlon Creek Restoration Project

Industry Name: Heavy/Highway/Utilities

Trade Name: Sitework/Clearing/Tree Removal

Project Street: Various/Multiple

Project City: Bradford West Gwillimbury

Detail Of Services: The project is located within Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, upstream of the Metrolinx rail crossing, and involves 2 specific project locations. This creek runs through both forested and open natural areas and is located within the Conservation Authority’s Regulated areas and the Regional Storm floodplain. The key project objectives are a culvert replacement, watercourse restoration and trail maintenance on Scanlon Creek. Specifically, the two (2) areas that are to be addressed include (A) a failing culvert creek crossing which has become a fish barrier located directly downstream of the previously completed restoration works, and (B) an area of severe bank erosion directly upstream of the original reservoir, including the removal of two (2) pedestrian bridges. This project also includes creating a trail bypass feature and some trail maintenance along approximately 50 metres of pre-existing trail. The intention is that this trail will be the predetermined construction access route for Site B. As the project is within the Regional Storm floodplain, and Site A is located directly upstream of a Metrolinx rail crossing, an as-built geodetic topographic survey will be required following the completion of construction to confirm the project maintains overland conveyance, and that the existing overland flow paths are not impacted by the proposed cut/fill locations.
