Brown’s Concrete has been named as a finalist in the inaugural Ontario Made Awards, which celebrate goods and services that are produced in Ontario.
The 115-year-old company manufactures concrete blocks, paving stones, retaining wall units and other concrete items. Established in Sudbury in 1907 by David L. Brown (aka “The Cement King”), the Brown’s was the first manufacturer of concrete products in the Sudbury area.
Today the business manufactures a complete line of concrete blocks, concrete paving stones, segmented retaining wall units and other fine concrete items that are sold in Ontario and the northern United States
The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) introduced the program to recognize manufacturers and retailers promoting Ontario-made products.
From Dec. 1, 2021, to Jan. 7, 2022, over 26,000 votes were cast to determine the 12 finalists across four award categories. Awards will be presented a virtual ceremony Feb. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m.
“The large number of votes cast for our Inaugural Ontario Made Awards demonstrates how eager consumers are to support their local manufacturers and retailers,” CME said in a release.
“Ontario’s manufacturers and retailers are the backbone of our economy, and the Ontario Made Program celebrates just that. We look forward to the Awards Ceremony and hope to see great community representation – there has never been a better time to celebrate what Ontario has to offer.”
